Midsummer return traffic picks up on Sunday

Traffic across Finland remained quiet on Sunday morning as travellers prepared to return home from Midsummer celebrations, but transport officials expect volumes to rise through the afternoon and continue into the evening. Fintraffic said the busiest period for return journeys is likely to fall between 3pm and 6pm, with roads in southern parts of the country carrying the highest volumes. Traffic levels are expected to stay below those recorded during the outbound rush before the holiday.
