Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman warned against people becoming "trapped by history" in response to statements made by President Nikos Christodoulides on the anniversary of the creation of EOKA. This follows Ünal Üstel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, condemning Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides for statements praising the EOKA terrorist group.
