US freelance journalist Shelly Kittleson, who has worked for various news organizations including Al-Monitor, has reportedly been abducted in Baghdad, Iraq, with US officials indicating one of the arrested suspects belonged to an Iranian-backed militia. Al-Monitor has called for her safe and immediate release as Iraqi security forces search for her captors.
