The Avakas Gorge trail, located in the Akamas National Forest Park in Cyprus, has been closed indefinitely by the forestry department. The closure is a precautionary measure due to adverse weather conditions, including increased water flow and slippery ground.

The fire brigade rescued 26 hikers on Wednesday after they became trapped by rising water in the Avakas gorge in the Paphos district. The call for help was received at 1.13pm on Wednesday.
