Art historian Christophe Leribault has been named the new director of the Louvre Museum in Paris, according to French officials.

The Louvre Museum's director resigned Tuesday after months of pressure following the October theft of the French crown jewels, as the world's most visited museum faced widening scrutiny over security failures, labour unrest and a suspected ticket fraud scheme.

Art historian Christophe Leribault, an experienced museum manager, is expected to take over the management of the Louvre.
La nomination sera au programme du Conseil des ministres mercredi. Annick Lemoine, qui dirige le Petit Palais, a été nommée au Musée d’Orsay.

French media reported that, following the resignation of Louvre director Laurence des Cars, French art historian Christophe Leribault is likely to take the helm of the crisis-stricken museum.
