A key border post between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi reopened Monday after more than two months of closure triggered by an offensive by the Rwanda-backed AFC/M23. The Kavimvira crossing, a vital trade route linking Uvira and Bujumbura, resumed operations on Monday as Congolese authorities reasserted control over the area.

Congolese authorities and civil society groups have reported the discovery of mass graves in an area recently vacated by M23 rebels in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
