Five members of a Dublin criminal gang have been sentenced to a total of 34 years in prison for torturing a man, who was waterboarded and had the word 'rat' branded on his head and torso with a hot iron poker.

Five men have been jailed for a horrific assault in which they branded the word 'RAT' on the victim's face using a cattle marker, with the judge stating their actions "bypass any notion of humanity."
