The Galamsey Coalition has appealed to the Ghanaian President to take more decisive action against illegal mining, known as galamsey, following a proposal by Hopeson Adorye to halt small-scale mining for one year to combat the issue.

Hopeson Adorye, Director of Field Operations for the United Party, has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of trying to create a scandal to smear the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
