A helicopter pilot reported a near miss with a remote-control airplane near JFK International Airport, marking the second possible drone or RC plane encounter in the area on the same day.

Newark, the second of New York's three major airports, ceased operations following an incident, after LaGuardia was closed for almost an entire day due to a separate crash, leaving only JFK International Airport fully operational.

Air traffic control reportedly alerted pilots after two planes came within approximately 500 feet of each other while on approach to JFK International Airport. This incident marks the latest in a series of close calls.
