Scientists believe they have found evidence suggesting that the earliest human records from the Stone Age could be 40,000 years older than the previously accepted 5,000 years ago in Mesopotamia.

An archaeological discovery reveals that hunter-gatherers in Europe developed a system of engraved signs 35,000 years ago, predating Mesopotamian writing. Many objects with these sequences were found in caves in southwestern Germany.
