Millions of Indians are casting their votes in elections across two states and a federally-administered territory, with the contests viewed as an early indicator of support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party.

Legislative assembly elections are being held in India's Assam and Kerala states, as well as the federal territory of Puducherry, with West Bengal and Tamil Nadu scheduled to vote later this month.
