Powerful Shia leader Muqtada al-Sadr and other Iraqi paramilitary groups have announced their intention to disarm and integrate into the state's security forces.

Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has announced the severance of ties with his paramilitary group, Saraya Al-Salam, and urged the state to take control over all arms.

Muqtada al-Sadr has imposed restrictions on the public presence of an armed group following recent clashes in Karbala.
