An AAIB report on the Pawan Hans helicopter crash in Andaman & Nicobar on February 24 revealed that emergency floats were not armed, contrary to standard operating procedures for operations at Port Blair.

An investigation into the Pawan Hans helicopter crash near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has found that floats were not armed and weather inputs were missing. The crash resulted in one fatality.

A Pawan Hans helicopter carrying seven people experienced a short landing and crashed into the sea near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. All individuals onboard were safely rescued.

The incident occurred as PHL Dauphin N3 helicopter was making journey from Sri Vijaya Puram in the Andamans to Rangat and onward journey to Maya Bunder.

The Pawan Hans helicopter had taken off from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers on board, according to a spokesperson.
