Strains have surfaced within India's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance as the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction attacked the Congress party for fielding a candidate in the Baramati by-election.

Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena faction has supported the Maharashtra anti-conversion Bill, diverging from its allies, the Congress and NCP(SP), on the issue.
