Singapore's Project Wolbachia celebrates a decade of achievements in combating dengue fever, showcasing how scientific breakthroughs can translate into effective public health realities through mosquito control.

A study has found that Singapore's expanded Project Wolbachia initiative successfully prevented almost 4,000 dengue cases in 2023, highlighting its effectiveness in combating the disease.

The programme will cover over 800,000 households - half of Singapore's homes - by year-end, said the National Environment Agency.

Dengue cases in Putrajaya, Malaysia, have fallen by 36.2 percent from January to April 2026, with the success attributed to the implementation of the Wolbachia method.
