Finland detects first African swine fever case

Finland has confirmed its first detection of African swine fever after the virus was identified in wild boar near the country's eastern border, prompting emergency restrictions and tighter movement controls to prevent the disease from spreading to domestic pig farms. The Finnish Food Authority announced that preliminary laboratory tests detected the African swine fever (ASF) virus in the remains of three wild boar piglets found in Virolahti, close to the Russian border.
