Great East Japan Earthquake: Possibility of lonely deaths in disaster public housing, higher proportion among middle-aged and elderly

It will soon be 15 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake. An analysis by NHK and experts has revealed that the proportion of people who may have died alone, without anyone to see them off, in disaster public housing where those who lost their homes live, is particularly high among the middle-aged and elderly generations in their 50s and 60s. Experts point out that post-earthquake mental care and support for rebuilding lives may not be reaching the middle-aged and elderly generations sufficiently.
