Icelandic Supreme Court Reduces Sentence in Akureyri Manslaughter Case

The Icelandic Supreme Court has reduced the sentence for a man convicted of killing his cohabitant in Akureyri in April 2024, ruling that it was not fully proven he intended to kill the woman.

Hæstiréttur hefur mildað dóm yfir manni sem varð sambýliskonu sinni að bana á Akureyri í apríl 2024. Maðurinn var dæmdur í 16 ára fangelsi í Landsrétti fyrir manndráp en Hæstiréttur taldi ekki fullsannað að hann hefði haft ásetning til að bana konunni.
