Lost Roman Mosaic Depicts Women Fighting Beasts in Arenas

A newly studied Roman mosaic, recovered in 1860s Reims, France, provides the first visual depiction of women fighting beasts in ancient Roman arenas. Dated to the third century CE, it features about 35 gladiatorial and hunting scenes.
