The Community of Sant'Egidio inaugurates Community House in Abuja

(ANSA) - ROMA, 18 FEB - The founder of the Community of Sant'Egidio, Andrea Riccardi, visited Abuja to meet with representatives of the local chapter and to inaugurate the new Community House, which was also attended by the Ambassador to Nigeria, Roberto Mengoni. Riccardi, together with the Ambassador, met with the Secretary of the Federal Government, Senator George Akume, representing the President of Nigeria. Numerous civil and religious authorities were present. The discussion focused on the role and action of the Community for peace, interreligious dialogue, and support for the poor, refugees, and people in serious conditions of vulnerability, as well as on the actions of the Nigerian government aimed at ensuring the safety of all citizens.
