Lietuvos socialdemokratų partijos (LSDP) lyderis Mindaugas Sinkevičius teigia, kad premjerės Ingos Ruginienės pasakymas, kad ji galėtų tinkamai atstovauti Lietuvai Europos Vadovų Taryboje (EVT), nėra pasikėsinimas perimti šią prerogatyvą iš prezidento. Visgi, socialdemokratas pripažįsta, kad tam tikra konkurencija taip Prezidentūros ir Vyriausybės egzistuoja.
