The badge still matters

Spend five minutes scrolling through social media during the transfer window and you could be forgiven for thinking football has become little more than a global stock exchange. Players are reduced to assets, clubs to investment vehicles, agents to traders and supporters to spectators in a financial drama played out by people whose interests rarely extend beyond the next contract.
