Hekla House in Reykjavík Approved for Demolition to Make Way for New Apartments

The building inspector in Reykjavík has approved the demolition of the 5,620 square meter Hekla House, which housed the Hekla car dealership for decades, to be replaced by new apartments, shops, and service premises.

Byggingarfulltrúinn í Reykjavík hefur samþykkt niðurrif Hekluhússins við Laugaveg 174. Húsið er 5.620 fermetrar og hýsti starfsemi bílaumboðsins Heklu í áratugi. Samkvæmt deiliskipulagi verða byggðar þarna íbúðir auk verslunar- og þjónustuhúsnæðis, u.þ.b. 20 þúsund fermetrar ofanjarðar auk bílastæða í kjallara.
