Leaning Church in Greek Village Becomes Tourist Hotspot After Landslide

The Mariä-Entschlafens-Kirche in the Greek village of Ropoto has become a tourist attraction due to its severe lean, caused by a major landslide in 2012 that destroyed most of the village but left the church largely intact.

Die Mariä-Entschlafens-Kirche im griechischen Dorf Ropoto lockt Dutzende Touristinnen und Touristen an. Nach einem schweren Erdrutsch 2012 wurden die meisten Gebäude des Dorfes zerstört. Die Kirche überstand den Einsturz und blieb grösstenteils unbeschädigt. Doch sie neigt sich jetzt um 17 Grad. Damit übertrifft ihre Neigung den Schiefen Turm von Pisa. Viele Einheimische und Gläubige sind überzeugt, dass dies kein Zufall, sondern ein wahres Wunder ist.
