Italy celebrates architect Cairati, who designed Fort Jesus in Kenya

(ANSA) - NAIROBI, 24 APR - The Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Vincenzo Del Monaco, during an event organized at the archaeological site and museum of Fort Jesus in Mombasa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, unveiled, together with the Kenyan Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, Hanna Wendot Cheptumo, a plaque dedicated to Giovanni Battista Cairati, the Italian architect who designed the fort in the 16th century during Portuguese rule.
