Immigrants Contribute One-Fifth of Social Security Contributions in Portugal

Immigrants now account for one-fifth of Social Security contributions in Portugal, with their share nearly quadrupling since 2015. Without their contributions, the number of active contributors would have stagnated, and the Social Security surplus reached a maximum of 6.6 billion euros.
