Ambassador Fontana's institutional mission to southern Iraq

(ANSA) - ROMA, 18 FEB - The Italian Ambassador to Baghdad, Niccolò Fontana, carried out an institutional mission in southern Iraq, confirming the strengthening of Italy's presence in the country through an integrated approach that combines economic diplomacy, development cooperation, protection of cultural heritage, and dialogue with political and religious authorities. Visits to Basra, Nassiriya, and Ur highlighted the contribution of development cooperation and Italian companies, the commitment to enhancing archaeological sites, and support for local communities.
