Six Nations:Lamaro says it'll be tough in Dublin, must improve on Scotland performance
(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 13 - Italy captain said Friday it will be tough against Ireland in the second match of the Six Nations in Dublin on Saturday and the Azzurri will have to improve on their performance in an 18-15 win over Scotland in their opener at the Olimpico last week.
He said the Irish will pose a stiffer test than the Scots even though Ireland was thumped 36-14 in Paris in their opener last Thursday night.
"Ireland has had a few extra days to train and wants to bounce back from the defeat against France, so it will be tough: we must prepare as best we can and be ready for a battle. We want to play our game and try to maintain consistency," Lamaro told a press conference on the eve of the match at the Aviva Stadium.
"Long-term goals can distract us from what we can actually control. Now we need to improve our performance game after game," Lamaro emphasized.
"Of course, we never stop dreaming and we always go out there to win, but as we've always said, the result depends on the performance, and the one in Dublin will have to be even better than the one against Scotland." "Last Saturday in the second half," Lamaro explained, "we weren't consistently dominant in the air, and Ireland, on the other hand, turned it into one of their most effective weapons.
They'll come to challenge us in this regard, and we'll have to be ready." (ANSA).
