Deep Earthquake Felt Across Italy, Officials Downplay Damage Risk
A deep earthquake, originating 250 kilometers below the surface due to the African plate's subduction under Calabria, was felt across parts of Italy from Lazio to Sicily. Officials from INGV stated that while widely perceived, such deep quakes are typically less damaging and have no direct link to the Marsili volcano.
