'Let's implore peace' says Pope Leo XIV
(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 4 - Pope Leo XIV reiterated his call for peace during his weekly general audience in Saint Peter's Square on Wednesday after the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran at the weekend and Iran's retaliation opened a new war in the Middle East. "Let us continue our Lenten journey in a spirit of penance and conversion, imploring God's mercy and peace for ourselves and for the whole world," the pope said in his greetings to German-speaking pilgrims.
