Ambassador Nicoletti inaugurates the 'Looking Beyond' exhibition at the University of Bergen

(ANSA) - ROMA, 20 FEB - The University of Bergen hosted the opening of the 'Looking Beyond' photography exhibition, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency and Telespazio/e-Geos. The opening was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Norway, Stefano Nicoletti, Vice-Rector Sigrunn Eliassen, and Dean Gunn Mangerud, in the presence of professors, researchers, students, and members of the local Italian community. Organized in Bergen by the Italian Embassy in Oslo with the involvement of Honorary Vice Consul Andrea Magugliani and the support of Var Energi of the Eni group, the initiative represents the third Norwegian stage of the project after exhibitions hosted in Sandnes and Tromso. The exhibition features 25 high-resolution satellite images from the Cosmo-SkyMed constellation and the archives of SiI and Telespazio/e-Geos, with the aim of stimulating reflection on the impact of human activities on the environment and the role of space technologies in combating global phenomena. In his speech, Ambassador Nicoletti highlighted the contribution of Italian Earth observation technology to environmental monitoring and risk management. On the sidelines of the inauguration, Nicoletti visited some of the university's research centers in the fields of aquaculture and marine biology and met with Italian professors and researchers living in the city, recalling the role of the Italian scientific community in Norway—about 680 scholars, including more than 80 in Bergen—as a strategic resource for strengthening bilateral scientific and technological relations.
