The European Commission has presented a plan to reduce reliance on gas and oil by accelerating electrification, aiming to boost economic competitiveness, lower electricity prices, and decrease dependence on fossil fuel imports.

Evropa chce méně plynu a ropy a více elektřiny. Právě na rychlejší elektrifikaci sází Evropská komise jako na jednu z cest ke zvýšení konkurenceschopnosti evropské ekonomiky, snížení cen elektřiny i omezení závislosti na dovozu fosilních paliv. Konkrétní závazný cíl ale zatím nepředstavila.
