France Revokes 1685 Law Defining Slaves as 'Goods'
France has formally revoked a 1685 law that defined slaves as 'goods,' a statute that had never been officially abolished despite the end of slavery in 1848. The proposal, which has the support of President Macron, will now proceed to the Senate.
