12th pass ‘doctor’ held after 30 illegal kidney transplants; poor lured for Rs 5L, organs sold for Rs 1 cr

Kanpur police have arrested Rohit Tewari, a Class XII passout, for managing 30 illegal kidney transplants by posing as a doctor. The racket, exposed on March 31, involved luring poor individuals to sell kidneys and selling them to wealthy patients for exorbitant prices. Tewari, who was on the run, has been identified as the mastermind behind the operation.
