Exhibition of works by American photojournalist who conveyed Minamata disease to the world begins in Tokyo

This May marks the 70th anniversary of the official confirmation of Minamata disease. Amidst this, an exhibition of works by American photojournalist W. Eugene Smith, who conveyed the damage of Minamata disease to the world, has begun in Tokyo. His former wife, who worked with him, appealed, "I want younger generations to feel through the exhibition that the environment was protected by the patients' struggle."
