Yale scientist leaves for Chinese university, says Chinese scholars can't lead major research in US

Zhang Kai, a rising cryo-electron microscopy researcher, resigned from his tenure-track position at Yale University on Jan. 12 and joined the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei, saying it was "almost impossible for a Chinese scholar" to lead a major research project in the U.S.
