‘Criminal cases can’t have lifespan of turtle’: SC on activist’s trial delay

The Supreme Court voiced apprehension regarding the extended duration of a criminal trial involving a Popular Front of India activist, who could face more than three years behind bars. With 700 witnesses lined up for prosecution, the trial has been severely delayed. The activist is charged with fundraising and supporting alleged terrorism, prompting the court to call for a swift resolution to the drawn-out legal proceedings.
