Ex-BBC Journalist Awarded £20,000 After Unlawful Phone Data Access by MI5 and PSNI
A former BBC journalist, Vincent Kearney, has been awarded £20,000 in damages after the Investigatory Powers Tribunal ruled that MI5 and the Police Service of Northern Ireland unlawfully accessed his phone data. The surveillance, aimed at identifying his sources, was deemed disproportionate and unlawful.
