Meloni says decree will separate ETS from renewable energy prices

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 18 - Premier Giorgia Meloni said Wednesday her government's new decree slashing energy bills would also separate the EnergyTrading System (ETS) from renewable energy prices. "We want to separate the cost of ETS from the pricing of renewable energy, such as hydroelectric and solar, to lower costs," said Meloni in a video posted on social media after the cabinet approved the energy billing decree, emphasizing that this is "a very courageous structural choice" and a "measure that will clearly require authorization from the European Union and is consistent with the commitment we are making in Europe, because, together with other nations, we are trying to boost the competitiveness of our businesses."
