Japan's LDP Debates 1% Consumption Tax Cut on Food Items
Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) held a joint meeting of its tax system research council to discuss a government proposal to reduce the consumption tax on food items by 1% for two years starting April next year. While opinions were divided, the final decision on how to proceed was entrusted to Tax Commission Chairman Onodera.
