The Plzeň Region in the Czech Republic is experiencing a significant shortage of police officers, prompting intensive recruitment efforts, with 126 new recruits joining last year.

Policie v Plzeňském kraji plánovala pro rok 2026 celkem 2450 policistů ve službě. Reálný počet je zhruba o 270 lidí menší. Je možné, že se tento rozdíl bude v příštích letech dále zvětšovat. Problém je navíc regionálně nerovnoměrný. „Musíme přimět k nástupu co nejvíce schopných lidí,“ říká pro Český rozhlas Plzeň mluvčí krajské policie Pavla Burešová.
