The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a global health emergency, as the death toll surpasses 100 and international concern grows. An American doctor has also been sent to Germany for treatment.

The Central African country faces a new outbreak of the Ebola virus, which causes a deadly hemorrhagic fever. More than 100 deaths have already been reported, mainly in Ituri Province in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He says that "the scale of the outbreak is way bigger than what we're having now and that is the reason the WHO decided on a public health emergency of international concern".
