Heart boy's mother 'resigned to idea her son won't make it'

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 18 - The mother of a two-year-old boy who has been deemed incompatible for a fresh heart transplant to replace a damaged one inserted in December is now resigned to the idea that he won't make it, her lawyer said after the decision not to operate at a Naples hospital Wednesday. "The mother is resigned to the idea that her son won't make it. The experts told her so," said Francesco Petruzzi, the lawyer for the mother of the child admitted to Monaldi Hospital, where a team of experts from Italian hospitals examined the child today and ruled that he is no longer eligible for a heart transplant. "The mother is resigned," said the lawyer. "She learned that he is inoperable from this team of doctors, who are the leading experts in all of Italy. We have no reason to contradict them." (ANSA).
