Scientists Plant Genetically Modified Barley Resistant to Climate Change in Czech Republic

Scientists in Olomouc, Czech Republic, have planted two new lines of genetically modified barley on a test field to evaluate their resistance to changing climate conditions. The experiment aims to observe how the modified properties of the cereal manifest outside of laboratory settings.

Dvě nové geneticky upravené linie ječmene vyseli ve středu vědci z Ústavu experimentální botaniky Akademie věd na pokusném poli v okrajové části Olomouce. Chtějí ověřit, jak se upravené vlastnosti této obilniny projeví v běžných podmínkách mimo laboratoř. Získané poznatky jim pomůžou při šlechtění plodin odolnějších vůči měnícímu se klimatu.
