Na moři strávil Frederick Fleet většinu svého života. Zpátky se nedržel ani poté, co se mu podařilo přežít potopení slavné zaoceánské lodi Titanic. Prožitá hrůza si na něm ale vybrala krutou daň. Na to, co viděl v osudnou noc z 14. na 15. dubna 1912, nedokázal zapomenout do konce života.
