Focus on investment in southern Italy at embassy in London
(ANSA) - LONDRA, 12 FEB - Event dedicated to the Unique Special Economic Zone (SEZ), at the Embassy of Italy in London, to illustrate growth opportunities in Southern Italy to British and international investors in the shadow of the City.
The meeting, part of the articulated institutional effort to support foreign investment in Italy, highlighted how the South of Italy is a leading logistics hub in the Mediterranean, with an innovative and competitive ecosystem and a highly skilled workforce, supported by advantageous tax incentives and ad hoc administrative simplifications. Organized by the Embassy in collaboration with ICE-Agency London, the National Council of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts (Cndcec) and Intesa Sanpaolo, the event was opened by the deputy chief of mission of the diplomatic office, Riccardo Smimmo, who emphasized the dynamism of trade relations between Italy and the United Kingdom and the positive trend in trade and investment. Following this, Cndcec president Elbano de Nuccio highlighted the crucial role of the accounting profession in facilitating foreign investment, recalling the agreement recently concluded by the Council with the Farnesina. ICE's director in London, Giovanni Sacchi, then spoke, illustrating the important role the agency plays both in supporting investors interested in choosing Italy as a destination for their business and in assisting Italian exporters.
Speakers in the two sessions in which the debate was divided included Massimo Deandreis, general manager of SRM (a study center linked to the Intesa Sanpaolo Group), Alfonso Siano, head of international relations at Intesa-San Paolo, and Michele Locuratolo, scientific coordinator of the Cndcec's Observatory on Internationalization.
The meeting, moderated by Aster Thackery, investment director of ICE-London, and also attended by Ambassador Inigo Lambertini, confirmed the high level of interest of the Kingdom's financial and business community in the new development paths offered by the Mezzogiorno and, more generally, in investment opportunities in Italy.
