Antarctic Mud Reveals Ancient Rainforest Near South Pole
Scientists have discovered fossils of an intact root network, pollen, and spores in Antarctic mud, indicating that a temperate rainforest existed near the South Pole during the Cretaceous period. This ancient ecosystem was found in a sediment core from the Amundsen Sea.
