BuzzFeed Studios and vertical video firm MuVpix have announced a partnership to produce over 100 microdrama titles in the next two years, starting with 'Romeo & Juliet, Reimagined,' for cross-platform distribution.
Netflix is expanding its content by licensing video series from top digital publishers, including Penske Media brands like Variety, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and The Hollywood Reporter, as well as Condé Nast, Hearst, BuzzFeed Studios, and People, with offerings ranging from shorts to 20-minute episodes available starting in August.
Media executive Byron Allen has reached a deal to acquire a majority stake in BuzzFeed for $120 million. As part of the agreement, Allen will also take over as the company's Chairman and CEO, replacing Jonah Peretti.
