Russia appears to have fired warning shots at a UK-registered yacht in the English Channel on June 16. British authorities say they are investigating the incident but so far treating it as isolated. The Grigorovich had been missioned with escorting tankers carrying Russian oil through the channel in the past. There were no reports of injuries or damage to the yacht.

British couple say Russian warship firing warning shots near yacht was ‘scary’

The British Ministry of Defence said the Russian vessel fired warning shots after making attempts to contact the yacht, which was about 20 nautical miles south of the Isle of Wight, outside the UK’s territorial waters.
