China overlooks Trump's demands for Hormuz strait, calls for all sides to de-escalate

China on Monday called on all sides to halt military operations in the Strait of Hormuz to avoid further escalation. The remarks came after US President Donald Trump urged China and six other countries to send warships to secure the vital shipping route. Beijing however made no mention of military intervention.
